rugbrod: (this is how I roll)
I make this every year for thanksgiving. The link I had in my pie crust recipe post is not functional anymore but thankfully I had it written down! So, this is not my own recipe, but unfortunately it's hard to credit a blog that directs to error pages in its entirety now.

Let this be a reminder to everyone, if you really like a recipe on the internet, make sure to keep a backup copy, you can't rely on recipe blogs staying up forever!

what it says on the tin. One of my favorite ways to use up sourdough discard! I truly don't expect anyone else to use this BUT I made a mistake on them recently that I wouldn't have if I had a reference I could pull up, so here it goes. Making a mistake on a recipe I wrote myself may seem silly, but that's how my brain is.

I've got a bookmarks folder full of things and I want to separate out the ones I've tested and found really good with no tweaks, from my to-try list. List under the cut.

Finally, something I expect other human beings on my dw (all.... 2? 3? of you?) might ACTUALLY want to make.
There's nothing too special about this brownie recipe, there are probably a lot like it, but it's good, my girlfriend likes it, and it's on a small enough scale that I can bake it in my 8x8 square pan and thus not have a ton of leftovers. Since I'm usually feeding only two people, leftovers are always a looming concern in my mind if something doesn't freeze well.
You can always scale it up if you WANT to make lots of brownies for a party or something, of course.

In my household this falls under the category of Weird Diet Food Only Tesla Eats. It's a weird hybrid of an oatmeal and a baked custard. I enjoyed it enough that I wanted to record it down for myself though!
I finally solved two problems in my breakfast life:
1, how to put whey protein in oats without it clumping. I just needed to add it to cold liquid and then cook again.
2, how to enjoy steel cut oats when I do Not have it in me to wake up early enough to actually cook them for breakfast... bake them the night before!

Spinach? sausage? onion? I want every kind of quiche. I want all of them at once... so that's what I do.
Recipe under the cut. It contains a secret I've been keeping from my girlfriend. < o>u< o>

This year, my dad received a fruitcake for Christmas. He called me to complain that he couldn't enjoy it anymore because regular fruitcake sucks compared to my fruitcake banana bread. It has all the festive flavors of fruitcake, but instead of having the texture of a syrup-soaked chunk of clay-rich soil, it actually feels like eating, well, cake. A dense cake, because it IS still meant to have something of the character of a fruitcake, but a cake regardless.
He missed it so much that, yes, I'm pulling out this recipe and I'm about to make it again in February. Which I'm fine with, because this is my fanciest recipe that I've done the best at documenting and worked the hardest to refine- it would be a shame if I could only pull it out in December.
Recipe under the cut, as always!

I make pies for most holidays. I don't really have any pie filling recipes of my own- except quiche which I will post later... but my family loves my pies in particular because they always use my own crisp, flaky crust recipe.

Another low-carb coconut flour recipe. I like them. I like eating lots of fat and some fiber. They keep me full until my next meal..... and I love the taste of coconut anyway. I eat other things besides coconut though- I use pea protein in the next low carb breakfast recipe I plan on posting.

A low-carb recipe yesterday and a sweet with real sugar today. That's what it means to have a balanced diet, right?
I guess you can add even more sugar to these if you want to eat them plain, but I make these for my girlfriend and I know she's just going to cover them with syrup anyway. :p

I've decided dreamwidth might be a good place to back up recipes I have scattered all around the internet, and in notebooks and scraps of paper around my apartment. I forget to record or just misplace my recipes too often!
Starting with a simple one with some weird ingredients I don't expect anyone else to have on hand unless they're also into the tiny niche of low-carb nut-free baking lol. SUPER NICHE CONTENT HERE ON RUGBROD DOT DREAMWIDTH DOT ORG UNDER THE CUT
